Obituary

William Daniel Nichols, 74, of Acworth, passed away on January 26, 2021.

He was born on July 2, 1946 in Murphy, NC.  Dan earned his GED and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1967.  Most of Dan's career was in grocery store management.  He was very good with people, loved everyone and never met a stranger. He had a passion for life and music.  Dan loved to sing, write songs and he could play pretty much anything with strings. If you knew Dan, you knew he loved his family, was proud of his country, and his favorite country artist was George Jones. Dan was blessed with two children Jerri Lynn and William from his first marriage.  Dan met Sarah, the love of his life in 1978. They married on March 24, 1979 and he also became "dad" to her two children, Charles and Ramona. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. During his retirement, Dan, "Bill" volunteered much of his time at the VFW Post 5408 in Acworth and serving the community. While serving as Commander in Chief of Post 5408, both Dan and Sarah traveled, and were blessed with many friends and many treasured memories. Most recently Dan has enjoyed bird watching, western movies, visits from family and friends, spending time with Sarah and playing with his four legged friends Feebie and Trixie. Dan will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Dan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife Sarah F. Nichols, brother Joseph J. Nichols, sister Rebeca Prater, son William Edwin Nichols, daughter Jerri Lynn Brophy, stepson Charles Franklin Brand, and stepdaughter Ramona Lynn Bray, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents James L. and Ethel Shell Nichols and his sister Charlotte Giles.
