William (Bill) Gober Gantt, age 85

Born: September 24, 1933 - Marietta GA

Died: November 20, 2018 - Marietta GA

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 27th at East Cobb UMC in Marietta. Mr. Gantt will lie-in-state from 10:00 – 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in the Marietta Campground Cemetery.

Born and raised in Cobb County's East Cobb area, growing up on a farm spending his life telling stories of the early days of Cobb County, attending Acworth High School.

He retired after 42 years working at the Lockheed Martin plant as an aircraft electrician with his later years on the C-5 flight line.

Dedicated member of East Cobb United Methodist church formerly Campground UMC. Member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and serving on the Board of Trustee's for many years taking care of the church building and grounds.

Lifetime member of the Marietta Campground attending annual revival services under the arbor most every year. He helped build several of the cabins in the 1950's. Cabins are lovingly called tents by most as they are the heart and soul of the Marietta Campground where families reunite annually to share the Love and Light of Jesus to others in the community.

A devoted Christian whom showed his love through how he lived committed to his family, church, and community

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Martha Jo (LeCroy) Gantt, brother Max C. Gantt and parents Horace C. Gantt & Rossie (Daniel) Gantt.

Survived by two sisters Norma Carter, Barbara Dickerson both of Marietta; 3 Children, Larry (Alice) Gantt, Roswell Ga, Stanley (Linda) Gantt, Watkinsville Ga, Sandra (Gregg "GW") Hill, Marietta Ga; 7 grandchildren, Richard Gantt, Michael (Amanda) Gantt, Laura G. Shores, Jason (Morgan) Gantt, Clinton Gantt, Gregory (Katie) Hill, Todd (Nikki) Hill; 8 great grandchildren, Addison Gantt, Connor Gantt, Nicholas Shores, Everest Gantt, Samantha Hill, Kylie Hill, Wyatt Hill, Brantley Hill and many nieces and nephews.
