William Grady "Bill" Long, 89, of Woodstock, died Saturday, November 4, 2017.  A funeral service will be held at Little River UMC, 12455 Hwy 92, Woodstock, GA 30188, on Tuesday, November 7 at 11:00AM with Dr. Gale L. Seibert officiating.  Interment will follow at Enon Cemetery in Woodstock.

Mr. Long is survived by his sisters, Louise Chastain, Helen Raper, and Virginia Lambert; and brothers, Howard Long, and Robert Long.  He is preceded in death by his wife, June Long; brothers, James Edward Long, Ralph Long, Roy Lee Long, and Dewey Monroe Long.

Mr. Long was a graduate of McEachern High School, class of 1943.  He married June Long on June 16, 1956. Mr. Long entered elective office for Woodstock City Council in 1967 and served two consecutive one-year terms.  He was then appointed to the Woodstock Planning Commission in 1969 and served as a city traffic judge in 1969 and the early 1970's.  He then served as Mayor of Woodstock from 1974 to 1977.  Mr. Long then rejoined the planning commission from 1979 to 1983. In 1984 he again sat on the Woodstock City Council until 2006.
