SSG Harry "Al" Scholtz, 63, passed away on September 25, 2021. Al was a decorated veteran who served in the peacekeeping mission in Bosnia, he spent 10 years in the Air Force and 13 more years in the Georgia National Guard.
Al was born on February 18, 1958 in Painesville, OH to his parents Harry Woodrow Sholtz and Lillian [Sally] Scholtz. When he was just 17, Al decided he wanted to join the Air Force. Al would go on to be mobilized several times with the Georgia Army National Guard with some of his closest friends.
After serving in the Air Force, Al met and fell in love with Pamela, they soon married in 1988. They settled in Acworth, GA to raise their girls. When he wasn't working, Al had a passion for motorcycles and his family. He enjoyed riding as much as he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.He was a dedicated member of the MFC Foothills Motorcycle Club where he rode countless miles to support numerous veterans programs and organizations.
Al was predeceased by parents, Harry and Lillian, of Ohio. He is survived by wife Pamela, daughters Brandy (Ken), Sarah (Jason), Shannon (Mike), Shanna (Zane), Hannah (Ryan), and 15 grandkids, 1 great-grandson 2 sisters, Bea and Cheryl, and 2 nephews, Eric and Todd (Penny).
There will be a funeral service held at Glade Road Baptist Church, 6570 Glade Road, Acworth, GA 30101 on September 28, 2021 at 12:00 officiated by Pastor Chad Smith. The graveside service will be at Georgia National Cemetery on September 29, 2021 at 12:30 officiated by CH (CPT) Kenneth Brooks. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00-12:00 at the church, prior to the service. Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N. Main St., Acworth, GA 30101, 770.974.3133.
