Sonjia Waite Alsobrooks, 85, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026. A cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, she filled every room with grace, warmth, and quiet strength. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on March 7, 1940, to Perry and Lucille (Stone) Waite, Sonjia grew into a woman whose life reflected deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a steadfast belief in the power of perseverance. She married the love of her life, David Alsobrooks, with whom she shared 43 devoted years before his passing.

Sonjia is survived by her daughters, Robin Loe (Terry) and Janie Alsobrooks, both of Acworth, GA; her son, Brad Alsobrooks (Sarah) of Chattanooga, TN; and her beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, Virginia, and Cas. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing, encouraging, and guiding them. She instilled independence, a strong moral compass, and the conviction that "you can do anything you set your mind to"-a principle she lived out every day.

A true Southern lady, Sonjia embodied grace, propriety, and quiet confidence. She was intelligent, quick-witted, and endlessly curious. She loved music deeply and was a talented piano player, often filling her home with the hymns and melodies she cherished. She loved playing bridge and was known to be a formidable poker player. Her artistic talents flourished through oil painting and colored pencil work, and her gardens were a reflection of her creativity-vibrant, carefully tended, and full of life. She adored her pets, Remy and Colt, who were her constant companions.

Sonjia inspired others not only through her personal relationships but also through her remarkable professional life. She built a thriving business as a Senior Sales Director for Mary Kay, where she mentored and encouraged countless women. For decades, she proudly drove her pink Cadillac-a symbol of her hard work, leadership, and the lives she touched. She was also a gifted public speaker, addressing large conferences with confidence and heart, and even hosted a talk radio show in the late 1970s and early 1980s dedicated to empowering women.

In 2007, Sonjia moved from her longtime home in Florence, Mississippi, to Acworth, Georgia, to be closer to family. She quickly built a new community through her church, her bridge groups, and her love of staying active-playing pickleball well into her 70s. She especially loved holidays and any occasion that brought her family together; she was the rock who kept everyone grounded, connected, and loved.

A celebration of Sonjia's life will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N. Main St., Acworth, GA, on March 4, 2026, at 5 p.m.
A graveside service will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, 840 Old Hwy 49 S, Richland, MS, on March 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
