Obituary

Shirley Fowler Walker, lifetime Acworth resident and Lockheed Retiree, died September 13, 2021.  She had attended Acworth Baptist Church, Acworth School and Georgia State College for Women.  For a period of fifty years her grandfather and her parents were Acworth business owners whose influence taught her to respect and love her hometown.  As a concerned citizen, she recommended and supervised improvements to Liberty Hill Cemetery, served on the Acworth Tree Commission, Comprehensive Planning Committee and Christmas Tour of Homes.  She was an appointee to plan Acworth's 150 th Birthday Celebration in which she and two committee members authored the book, "Remembering Acworth".  Additionally, she authored several published articles, and unpublished short story and her father's biography.  Shirley was preceded in death by husband, Harley "Red" Walker and is survived by her sons, Greg and Steve; grandchildren; sister, Beverly Samuelson; nieces and cousins.  **Due to COVID no services will be held.**  Contributions may be made to Calvary Children's Home.  Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
