Sarah "Nanny" Newsome's Obituary
Sarah "Nanny" Newsome, 71, of Centre AL, formerly of Acworth, died Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. A native of Georgia, Mrs. Newsome had lived in Centre, AL for 26 years. She was retired as a cook from Cherokee County Nursing Home and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Acworth and New Bethel Baptist Church in Centre. Mrs. Newsome is preceded in death by her father Clemon Lang; brother Roy Lang and son William Kinney. She is survived by her husband, Lex Newsome of Centre, AL; children, Adam Kinney of Stinett, TX, Jerry Kinney of Blairsville, Rhonda McSpadden of Centre, AL and Raiford Kinney of Cumming; mother, Alice Lang of Cartersville; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Allene Cothrum of Russellville, AL, Patricia Reynolds of Acworth, Thomas Lang of Rome and Pamela Lee of Dallas; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
