Sandra Faye (Newberry) Richards Teague of Marietta, Georgia age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 18, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, September 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service.

She is survived by her husband Gene E. Teague, two Sons Jimi (Regina) Richards of Kennesaw, GA and Scott (Jeannie) Richards of Dallas, GA,

Stepchildren Patricia Beard (Steve) of Ball Ground, GA, John Teague of Talking Rock, GA, Randy Teague (Carol) of Jasper, GA and Micheal Teague of Jasper, GA.

Sandra had 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James "Slick" Richards and her stepson David "Tiny" Teague of Ball Ground, GA

Sandra was a Graduate of Acworth High School, Class of 1954.

Sandra retired in 2003 from Cobb County School Systems after 32 years of service in Food Services and Custodian of Blackwell Elementary School in Marietta, GA.

She was an accomplished poet, writer and researcher of her ancestors of the Newberry, Whelchel, Richards, O'Barr and other families.

Traveling with her husband Gene, they visited several states gathering information for her genealogy books and for writing stories about her families for the Heritage Books for Dawson, Gilmer, Lumpkin, Paulding and Polk Counties in Georgia.

She was instrumental in having Newberry Park in Acworth, GA named after her brother Bobby Newberry who died from injuries from a football game for Acworth High School.

She is also survived my many nieces and Nephews.
