Samuel Ray (Sam) Glidewell , 65, of Marietta, GA died after a long illness on December 3, 2015. Sam is survived by his wife Tricia of 36 years, daughter Sarah (Matthew) Collins, son Ryan Edward Glidewell, and brother Robert Glidewell.

Sam was a loving father and husband. Sam graduated with a BS from Birmingham-Southern University in Birmingham, Alabama and went on to earn a Masters degree and a PhD from Georgia Tech. He retired from Georgia Tech Research Institute, where he worked as a Research Scientist II. Sam loved tinkering with electronics, working math problems, watching Georgia Tech football games, and most of all enjoying the company of his family and friends. He was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia for over thirty years, where he made many close friendships. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Marietta Funeral Home on Friday, December 4, 2015. Funeral services for Sam will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Marietta on Saturday, December 5th at 2:30 pm. Sam will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, GA.
