Obituary

On June 28th, 2022, Ronald Dean Warren of Acworth, GA passed away. He was raised in Rural Hall, North Carolina, the youngest child of Claude and Noma Warren (their children - Claudine, Johnny, Edward, Shirley, Carolyn, and Ronald). He started working as a paperboy when he was very young and got a job at Stultz's at the age of 12. Ron joined the Army at 18 and served in Germany and Korea for over seven years. After being honorably discharged, he worked at General Electric leading to his eventual relocation to Acworth, Georgia which he called home for the last 42 years.

Ron was an avid storyteller known best for the stories of his childhood and his tall tales (which may have been one in the same). He alleged to have been the only graduate of the Rural Hall's Pre-K Culinary Institute and claimed to know the first three words to over a million songs. However, the more obscure the song, the more likely he was to know the whole thing and to sing it to his wife. She has probably heard "El Paso" in most of the states west of the Mississippi. He loved the Atlanta Braves, ACC Basketball, hunting, astronomy, traveling, reading, history, and, most importantly, his family.

While recovering from a heart attack, he fell in love with his lovely nurse, Pamela, who he would marry in 1976 and remain married to for the next 46 years. Together, they built a life around family, travel, and joy. They puttered around the yard, ran many a squirrel off a bird feeder, loved their dogs, children, and each other. They truly lived happily ever after.

That life may not have been possible if not for the selfless gift of an unknown family. On May 9th, 1997, Ron received a heart transplant that extended his life by 25 years, and we were so incredibly grateful for that time. If you're reading this, take this as your sign to become an organ donor. It makes such a difference in people's lives and really is the gift of life. While the family will accept flowers, donations to LifeLink of Georgia in his honor are also appreciated.

Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Noma Wiles Warren Roth; father, Claude Lee Warren; sisters, Claudine and Shirley; brothers, John and Edward.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; sister Carolyn (Gordon) Meuller; children, Joseph (Patty), Elizabeth, Meredith (Charles) and Laura (Jeff); his five grandchildren, Barbara (James), Charles, Theresa (John), Daniel (Danielle) and Stephen; great granddaughters, Zoe and Eloise; sisters-in-law, Kat and Jean.  Many nieces, nephews, other extended family and wonderful neighbors also survive.  Ron will also be dearly missed by his beloved dog Jett.

Funeral services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with burial in the Georgia National Cemetery at 2:00pm.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00, Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N. Main St., Acworth, GA 30101, 770.974.3133.
