Ronald Alan "Ronnie" Dodd, 45, of Acworth, died Thursday, March 2, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Monday morning in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home with Dr. Vic Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Born on October 25, 1971, Ronnie came to his forever family in August, 1974. Awaiting him was his mother, Anne E. Dodd and his grandmother, Myrtle E. Dodd. His smile, sweet spirit, and loving nature was inspiring to everyone he met. His interests grew as he enjoyed outdoor activities, picnics, the beauty of birds and flowers, sports, music, and his grandmother's cooking. Along life's journey, Ronnie met many people who became like family to him. Through church, Special Olympics, Special Friends Bowling, and HomeBanc Mortgage, he thrived. Most of all, his caregivers became chosen family who cared for and supported him in so many ways. Caregiver, Calvin Brandful, was central to his quality of life for eleven years along with Lovetta Pratt who cared for him for 6 years and became a friend who was to become his guardian. Vida Boakye was also a member of Ronnie's care team for seven years. These caregivers were true blessings in every way! The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff at Wellstar Community Hospice for their care and compassion during Ronnie's last illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Right In The Community 1830 Water Place Suite 120 Atlanta, GA 30339. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
