Ronald Alan Jones Ph.D, P.E., loving father and husband, died at Kennestone hospital in Marietta, GA on December 29th, 2017. He was 74.
Mr. Jones was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 10th, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Virgil Jones. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia, his children David (Jennifer), Jason (Kathryn), and Travis (Laurie), and his grandchildren Benjamin, Owen, and Jillyanne.
Mr. Jones graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1961. He received his undergraduate and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1965 and his Ph.D from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1974. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid soccer coach, player, and fan. He coached youth soccer at the YMCA in Brentwood, TN from 1979-1990.
Mr. Jones founded Geotek Engineering, GEC Inc., and Pavilion Construction in Nashville over the course of 40 years. He retired to Acworth, GA in 2012.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6th from 2-4pm at Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N Main St, in Acworth, Georgia 30101.
