Dr. Ronald Cavitt, 72, of Cartersville, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020.  Ron was born in Marietta and graduated from North Cobb High School.  He went on to attend The University of Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.  While at UGA he also served as the first chair trumpet in the Red Coat Marching Band.  After receiving his bachelor's degree, Ron attended Southern Seminary in Louiville, KY where he received his Masters and Doctorate of Theology.

Ron had two passions in life, bass fishing, and serving the Lord as a pastor of churches.  In ministry he served as pastor at East Huntsville Baptist in Huntsville, AL, Buckhead Baptist in Buckhead, GA, First Baptist Austell in Austell, GA, Calvary Baptist in Lilburn, GA, and Jackson Way Baptist in Huntsville, AL.

After retiring from his head pastor position, he served as Executive Director of three different Assisted Living facilities in North Alabama and Atlanta area. Then retired from that and started "hobbies-as-jobs" with hardscaping & general repair business, tuned pianos, and supported church ministry with playing music for various local churches.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Hopper, and Kathleen Bonds; son, Chris Cavitt; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his son, Ronald Eugene Cavitt, Jr.

A private funeral will be held at Iron Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1:30pm.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens at 3:00pm.  Those who do not feel comfortable gathering at the church are encouraged to meet for the graveside service.  Please remember to wear a mask and social distance when possible.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.collinsfuneralhome.org
