Obituary

Roger Eugene (Gene) Hefner of Kennesaw, Georgia died at the age of 70 at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, Georgia on September 16, 2021 after a long illness. A private family service will be held in North Carolina.

Mr. Hefner was born in Valdese, North Carolina and had resided in the metropolitan Atlanta area for most of his adult life.  He was preceded in death by his father Claud Hefner and by his mother and step-father, Eva and Hubert Anthony.  He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Henderson Hefner, two adult children, Roland Eric Hefner and Lori Annette Hefner, Grandson Lucas Himenez, step mother, Effie Hefner, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Rick McClurd, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Debbie Hefner, step-sister and brother-in-law Alva and Chuck Yandle, mother-in-law Marian Henderson, sister-in-law Diana Brantley, and brother-in-law and sister-in law George and Bobbi Bailey.  He is also survived by an aunt, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hefner attended South Mecklinberg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina and earned two bachelor degrees, one in Business from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and one in Art from Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia.  His career was primarily in building products, specializing in millwork. He believed his "real" job, however, was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ at every opportunity. He had a love for Senior Adults and he served them in several different ministries in the Acworth/Woodstock, Georgia area.
