Obituary

The family will receive friends at Collins Funeral Home at 11 AM followed by a noon memorial service for Mary Sue and Bob Gibson on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Robert "Bob" Gibson, 90, of Acworth, died Thursday, November 22, 2018.    Bob was born in Madisonville, TN and had lived in Acworth since 1965.  He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan and was a retired employee of the Lockheed Georgia Corporation.  Bob served the city of Acworth as an alderman for eight years and as mayor for 4 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Acworth where he formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons.  Surviving are his wife, Mary Sue Gibson of Acworth; children, Gwen (Harry) Hansen of Kennesaw, Pat Tumlin of Acworth, Beth (John) Watson of Marble, NC, Theresa (Chris) Close of Kennesaw, Bill (Jeanette) Casey, Jr. of Kennesaw, Connie Casey of Warner Robins, and Tim (Rosetta) Gibson of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Dale (Betty) Gibson of Oak Ridge, TN; sister, Edna Mae Kendrick of Sweetwater, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org .  Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133 is in charge of arrangements.
