Obituary

Robert "Bob" Louis Bessho, 68, of Marietta, Georgia, died Saturday, June 4, 2016. The family will receive friends at Marietta Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at The Chapel at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on Thursday, June 9 at 3:00 pm officiated by Pastor Steven Bonham.


Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Tricia Bessho, of Marietta, Georgia; son, Nick Bessho (Layne), of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; daughter, Brittany Bessho Bass (Aaron), of Ponte Vedra, Florida; and grandchildren, Kyle, Bryce and Avery Bessho, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.


He was born November 1, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia and is preceded in death by his father, Asa Masao Bessho and mother, Mary Kimbrough Bessho and his sisters Cathy Bessho and Donna Peters. After graduating from Avondale High School, he attended Georgia State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. His career spanned more than 45 years as a Credit Manager.


He played semi-pro softball for 10 years and was actively involved in coaching youth sports in the Atlanta area for over 20 years. He was a passionate lover of food and travel but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and fur babies, Macy and Chanel, and driving his MINI Cooper convertible, Pearl. His love of life was contagious as he touched so many lives with his generous spirit, warm heart, bubbly personality, and sense of humor.


In lieu of flowers, a softball scholarship fund has been set up in memory of Bob to allow young athletes the opportunity to advance their softball skills through lessons provided by Don McKinlay.
