It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Paulding announces his passing after a short illness, on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 71 years. Richard will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Claire "Cookie" Paulding and his children, Rone' and Kevin and his wife Tina. Richard will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Tayla, Bryson, Kylie and Kyle, by his sister Chirlaine Santos, his brother George Johnson and his wife Harriet, brothers in law Talib Mahdee and Raymond Philpott, his sisters in law Janet Philpott and Karen Philpott and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was predeceased by his mother Gloria Thorne and stepfather Cecil P Thorne.
A Memorial Service in memory of Richard will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 4:00p.m. at Marietta Funeral Home Chapel, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial Service.
Richard was born in Boston, MA. In his early years, the family moved to East Bridgewater, MA and then to Randolph, MA where he graduated from high school. He entered into the construction trade and became a crane oiler and then advanced to become a tower crane operator. He married in 1968 and eventually settled in Medford, MA in 1981. Richard leaves behind a lasting concrete legacy, having worked on many of the existing skyscrapers that presently exist in downtown Boston, MA. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4. Richard retired in 2005 and moved to Marietta, GA. He just received recognition for being a member of the union for 50 years. In retirement he enjoyed nurturing his plants and flowers and also enjoyed fine dining and traveling.
