In Loving Memory of Richard Walter Morris

July 22, 1941 – October 24, 2026

Richard Walter Morris, lovingly known as “Poppi,” passed away on October 24, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Rich spent his life beating the odds. His family often joked that he had nine lives, as no matter what life threw his way, he always found a way to pull through.

Rich met the love of his life, Muriel “Maggie,” while working at King’s Grocery Market. After serving in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, he returned home and found his way back to Maggie. They married in 1970 and built a beautiful life together, raising their daughter, Lisa. They spent 32 years in Florida before moving to Georgia in 2002.

Rich was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To his family, he was Poppi, a name filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Morris and Robert Morris.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Muriel “Maggie” Morris; his daughter, Lisa Briley (Scott); his grandchildren, Breanna, Erika, Madison, Jon, and Kristin (Gus); his great-granddaughter, Harleigh Talton; his sister-in-law, Carol Caruso; his brothers-in-law, Robert Caruso and Anthony Caruso (Pamela); and his nephews, Jamie and Jason.

Although his family wishes they could have had more time with him, they are forever grateful for every year, every memory, and every moment they shared. After a lifetime of beating the odds, Poppi can finally rest.
