Richard Dewitt
Guyton
Oct 30, 1940 — Apr 2, 2026
Richard DeWitt Guyton passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, family devotion, and a deep connection to the land. Known to many as the hardest working man they'd ever met, Richard spent three decades serving the City of Marietta, retiring as the Assistant Superintendent of the Water Department.
To his family, he was a steady pillar of strength—a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His 50-year passion for beekeeping and his love for hunting and fishing were more than just hobbies; they were the way he shared his appreciation for life's simple, honest rewards with those he loved.
Richard is reunited in death with his wife, Gertie Guyton; his sister, Maggie Hillhouse; and his parents, Talmadge and Jesse Guyton.
He is survived by his sons, David Guyton and Russell Guyton; his daughter, Greta Adams; and his sister, Betty Walker. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Abagail Guyton, Bradley Guyton, Jack Guyton, Cole Guyton, Paige Adams, and Taylor Adams, as well as his great-grandchild, Maggie Guyton.
