Olive Sophia Miller, age 100, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 28, 2024.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 2nd at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Kingston, GA.

Born August 3, 1923, she is the daughter of the late Charles Law Simpson and Charlotte Lawson of Boston, Lincolnshire, England. She is predeceased in death by her husband Jeff Miller, son, Col. Michael Miller, grandsons, Charles Jones-Daniel, Robert Daniel and Josh Weaver.  Olive is survived by her daughters, Lesley Weaver (Herschel), Elizabeth Jones (Mike), Bobbie Ferrell (Tommy), Charlotte Chastain (Eddie), daughter-in-law Cheryl Miller (Michael), 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In past years, Olive was an active member of Acworth First Baptist Church serving as Nursery Director, WMU President, Home Missions Director, Preschool Teacher, member of both the Church and Bell Choir.  She worked outside the home as a substitute teacher at Acworth Elementary School and with her husband Jeff at Boones Ace Hardware.

Olive had a keen sense of humor and had many stories about her life in England, particularly living in London during World War II.  She met her future husband, an American MP, through a mutual acquaintance, while serving her country as a Land Army girl.  She arrived in New York aboard the Queen Mary in March 1946 with her 18 month old son, Michael, and with other War brides, made her long train trip to the rural south arriving in Cartersville, GA.

She loved and enjoyed her family and took immense delight in spending many hours with her grandchildren and was always ready to serve as babysitter when needed.  She will be missed deeply by her family and friends and will forever remain in their memories as "The Queen".
