Obituary

Oles Elgin Chance, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on the morning August 9, 2022. Oles was loved and admired by all who knew him for his quick wit, generous heart, and incredible strength of character. He could fix anything, play any instrument by ear, and find the humor in any situation. Oles believed in the value of hard work and helping others, and he was equally talented at both. When he was not helping someone in need or working on one of his many projects, Oles could be found watching a western, sitting on the porch with his wife Eva, or reading the King James Bible. Oles was a member of Rope Mill Baptist Church, and he lived his life in service to the Lord. We rest in the confidence that he is now cracking jokes and eating red eye gravy in Heaven.

Oles is preceded in death by his mother and father, Annie and Ben Chance, whom he loved and remembered fondly throughout his life. He also goes to join his brothers Roy Chance and Jimmy Chance, grandson Anthony Roland, and son Michael Chance. He dearly missed his departed loved ones, and he will meet them again with joy.

Oles is survived by his beautiful and cherished wife, Eva Mae Weaver Chance, to whom he was married for nearly 60 years. Eva and Oles are the picture of enduring, Christlike love. Together, they raised a loving family of five children, fourteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren who will all remember their example. He is also survived by son Mitchell Chance; daughter Debbie (Jackie) Dillard; daughter Melisa (Richard) Cheatham; daughter Pamela (Kelvin) Smith; granddaughter Kylie Chance; brother Paul (Brenda) Chance; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. It would be impossible to list every person who loved and will miss our Papa. Our family welcomes you to celebrate his memory by reflecting on Matthew 25:40 and finding a way to show "the least of these" the love of Jesus.

Services will be held 11:00am Thursday August 11, 2022, in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Chance officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00.  Collins Funeral Home 4947 N. Main St., Acworth, GA 30101, 770.974.3133.
