Misty Lynn
Sheldon
Oct 11, 1973 — Aug 10, 2025
In Loving Memory and Honor of
Misty Lynn Sheldon
October 11, 1973 – August 10, 2025
Misty Lynn Sheldon was born on October 11, 1973, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to the late
Renee Merriman and David Sheldon.
As we reflect on Misty's life, we recognize that these may be the final words written for
the world to read about her. And so, we choose to share what Misty would want you to
know—understanding that no words can truly capture the remarkable and unique
person she was. Misty was a force. She lived with a fierce and unwavering spirit. You see, she fought
hard for what she believed in, and regardless of the outcome, Misty never backed down.
Her resilience was unmatched; she worked hard and came back stronger every time.
She was gritty, witty, and someone you always wanted her on your side.
Misty was a trendsetter even in her childhood years. From the asymmetrical haircut she
wore in her teens to the precious home she made; she had a flair for style and a love for
retail therapy. She was cute, classy, sassy and most definitely smart-assy.
A connoisseur at heart, you could call her a mother, artist, carpenter, interior designer,
realtor, inventor, sculptor, cyber security guru, gardener, boat captain, world traveler,
adventurer, friend, athlete (She played pickleball and tennis in the cutest outfits!), hair
dresser, sister, confidant, stylist and even a researched and articulate debater. In many
of these areas, she was not just an enthusiast but a certified or licensed expert.
While we are proud to call her ours, Misty would be quick to shift the spotlight to her
greatest joy: her daughter, Elvie. Misty said that Elvie gave her "the best 13 years" of
her life. Their bond was deep, and her love for Elvie was literally the heartbeat of her
world. Misty was preceded in death by her pride and joy, her daughter Elvie Chineme
Achukwu; her mother, Renee Merriman; her stepfather, Samuel Merriman; her brothers
Andy Sheldon and Sean Sheldon; and her niece Megan Comer.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, David and Carolyn Sheldon; brothers
John, Tim (Terri), Daniel and Kevin Sheldon; sisters Kristy (Trent) Gould and Julieanne
Sheldon; and her BFF and cousin, Carrie Northrup Sigler. Misty also leaves behind
many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A service to honor Misty's life will be held on Friday, August 15, at Collins Funeral
Home, 4947 North Main Street, Acworth. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately after. Additionally, a service will be held at a later time in her hometown of Ashtabula, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Chris Johnson
Foundation. Founded in honor of CJ's courageous battle with RMC—a battle Elvie also
courageously faced—the foundation supports research and awareness for this rare
cancer. Donations can be made at: chrisjohnsonfoundation.org
