Obituary

It is with heavy heart and immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Marian Bettye Campbell Dew at age 72 on 5/10/22. Words cannot describe one of the finest individuals that has ever graced this Earth. Her kindness and love affected everyone one she met.  She touched many souls with her constant goodwill from her passion of cooking, her love of all animals, to her generosity for helping others of which no match can be found.

Bettye was born 11/13/1949 to Gartha Louise Wilburn Campbell and Wilbur Ray Campbell in Holy Springs, Mississippi. Later in childhood, the family moved to Acworth, Ga where she spent the remainder of her days. Bettye comes from a large family and is proceeded in death by both parents, sister Peggy Campbell Adams and husband Phil Dew.  She is survived by only son Richard (Richie) Bearden, daughter in-law Renita Sonnett (Sonny) Bearden and one grandson Brody Payne Bearden.

Surviving siblings include: Virginia Campbell Atkins, Freddie Campbell Rice and Husband Dale Rice, Louis Campbell and wife Dorinda Campbell, Shirley Campbell Black and Husband Lennis Black, Connie Campbell and Husband Richard Goodnight. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Bettye lived a full life doing the things she loved. Her eye for decorating, green thumb in the garden and keen eye for antiques brought her joy daily. She enjoyed her time working for the State of Georgia assisting others with trips to the many parks Georgia has to offer. Her life can in no way be summed up by a few lines of an obituary. It would take a novel to describe her and the people she touched. Rest in peace Bettye and know you left this world a better place.
