Maria Luisa Rodriguez, 99,
passed away on September
13, 2025, at Brickmont
Assisted Living in Kennesaw,
Georgia. Maria was born in Santa
Clara, Cuba on August 20,
1926, to Carlos Hernandez
and Maria Luisa Gonzalez.
She attended Sullins Collins in
Bristol, Virginia. She returned
to Cuba to help her parents in the family business at the
Santa Amalia Sugar Mill
Plantation until her father's
death. There she met the love
of her life, Luis, and they were
married 60 years at the time
of his passing. She was a
member of the Fort Valley
Presbyterian Church and the
Warrenton First United
Methodist Church. Maria was
a homemaker and loved to sew and cook. She especially
loved all the children she kept
in her home for friends. They
are all her extended family.
Maria is predeceased by her
husband Luis, three brothers,
and four sisters. She is
survived by her two
daughters, Alexandra
Rodriguez Davis (Tony).
Springfield, Georgia, and Ana Rodriguez Horton (Kenny),
Dallas, Georgia. She is also
survived by four
grandchildren, Andrew
Johnson (Katy), Watkinsville,
Georgia, Maria Celeste
Johnson and fiance, Zeb
Baker, Hamilton, Ohio,
Isabella Horton, Binghamton,
New York and Chandler
Horton, Dallas, Georgia, great grandsons, Bennett,
Mackenzie and Shepherd
Johnson and many nieces
and nephews.
The family would like to thank
the staff at Brickmont
Assisted Living for all the care
they provided our Mother and
Grandmother the last four
years and Willowbrook
Hospice for the care they have provided the her last two
months. There will not be a service at
this time.
