Obituary

Margaret Ann (Jones) Thomas was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She peacefully passed away on February 7, 2023, at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy in their daily lives.

Born to Early Lee and Lois (Hightower) Jones on February 6, 1960, Margaret was a docile child known for her effortless style and sassy personality. She graduated from Paulding County High School and later went on to attend Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, GA. She began her career as an operator at Southern Bell Telephone Company in 1979 where she earned a multitude of accolades and awards for her exceptional leadership and customer satisfaction. In July 2009 she retired from AT&T with over 30 years of service under her belt.

Margaret accepted Christ at a very young age while attending Smith Temple Pure Holiness Church of God in Hiram, GA. She went on to serve as a faithful member and church secretary at Greater Fellowship Temple of the Apostolic Faith in Atlanta, GA under the leadership of Bishop Gerald A. Hilson Sr. It was there where she later met and married her husband, Charles (Tony) Thomas. At the time of her passing, she was a member at City of Refuge Christian Church in Powder Springs, GA, under the leadership of Rev. O'Neal Daniel.

The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Margaret. She was a dedicated caregiver and enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Some of her hobbies included cooking meals and baking delectable cakes to share with those closest to her, shopping, having family nights, and creating countless memories with her grandchildren.  Her selflessness and witty personality were contagious and will be missed by those that loved her.

Margaret is preceded in death by her father, Early Lee Jones, three brothers, Jerry, Chris, and Dan, and son-in-law, Jermaine. She is survived by her spouse, Charles; two children, Karmen and Brandon (Ronette); one bonus son, Marcus; six grandchildren, Briana, Jaden, Justin, Brandon Jr., Laila, and Lily; her loving mother, Lois Jones; three sisters, Kathy, Jennifer (James), and Sherrie (Paul); five brothers, Charles, Timothy, Maurice, Patrick, and Carlos; her best friends, Penny, Carol, Rhonda, and Sharon; and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
