Lowell Savage, 93, of Kennesaw, father of Lowell David, Lynne, Scott, and Joy Ellen; father-in-law to Irene and Martin; grandfather to Anna, Katie, Kelsey, Jonathan, and Neil; great-grandfather to Oskar, Eleonore, Flora, and Frida; widower of Esther, and husband of Ramona, died peacefully after a brief illness on April 29, 2018.
He will always be remembered as kind and generous, with a great sense of humor and a sparkle in his eye. He commanded great respect as a hard worker and a loyal and ethical man.
He was a lifelong fan of Penn State football. He enjoyed working outside and taking care of his gardens and grounds. He loved to tinker with projects and equipment. Glenn Miller's music delighted him and he danced to the sounds of Big Bands with enthusiasm.
He knew tragedy and sadness, having been predeceased by two of his children, but he never lost his zest for life.
He was born in Bangor, Maine and held a special place in his heart for that state all of his life, returning there on many occasions. He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in engineering and worked for Erie Tech and Murata.
He married Esther Ring in 1948 in Richmond, Maine and they lived in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Atlanta GA.
After Esther's passing, Lowell married Ramona Anderson in 2006 and they made their home in Marietta.
There will be a memorial service held at East Cobb United Methodist Church in Marietta on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Arrangements are in the care of Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta. Memories, condolences, photos, and videos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at
