Obituary

Louie C. "Fuzz" Gayton, 86, of Acworth, passed away August 2, 2017, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Weeks officiating.  Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Born May 7, 1931 in the Allatoona Community of Acworth, Georgia to Fred and Vera Gayton, Fuzz served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.  After serving in the military, he moved to Detroit, MI and worked for General Motors, later transferring to General Motors in Doraville, Georgia.  Fuzz resided in Acworth with his aunt and uncle, where he met the love of his life, Mary Sue Robertson. They married December 21, 1957.  In 1962, he purchased the Smoke House that he owned and managed for more than 11 years. For many years, he worked in construction as a carpenter for Post Properties. Around 1989, he purchased another night club, this time in Livingston, Tennessee and managed it for a few years until he came back to Acworth in 1991, where he finally retired.  Preceded in death by his brother Cecil Gayton, he is survived by his 2 sons, Steven Brady Gayton and Frederick Clinton Gayton (Cheryl);  4 grandchildren, Susan Cash, Ryan Gayton, Amanda Gayton and Wil Gayton; 8 great grandchildren, 1 nephew, and 2 nieces also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
