Leonard A. McClure, 87, of Acworth, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby McFarland officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Cherokee County, Mr. McClure retired from the US Army as a Master Sargent. He served his country in WW II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, and in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Acworth Lodge #176 F&AM, American Legion Post 316, VFW Post 5408, and the Canton Post of the DAV. He is survived by his son, Leonard A. (Rita) McClure, Jr. of Acworth; grandchildren, Valerie (Ryan) Lee of Acworth, Tiffany (Adam) Griffith of Adairsville, Samuel McClure of Acworth and Michael (Liz) McClure of Seattle, WA; great grandchildren, Logan Griffith, McClure Griffith and Kaya McClure; brother, Roy Lee (Marie) McClure of Marietta; sisters, Edith Craven of Acworth, Ethel (Tobe) Kennedy of Acworth and Naomi (Clyde) Cornett of Canton.
