Leon "Peanut" Owens 86, of Acworth, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. A native of Aragon, Mr. Owens lived in Acworth for many years. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years, having served his country in both Korea and Viet Nam. Following his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Owens taught Auto Mechanics at RL Osborne High School. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his spouse, Betty J. Owens of Acworth; daughter, Cathy Jackson of Acworth; son, Greg (Janet) Owens of Jasper; grandchildren, BJ (Kenny) Hannah of Acworth and Chelsea Owens of Jasper; 3 great grandchildren; brother Charlie (Barbara) Owens of; sister in law, Clara James Owens of Aragon; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
