Larry Odell Emmons, 68, of Colombia, SC, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in the care of Warrior's Walk hospice at the VA Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11th at 11am in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home in Marietta, GA with Reverend Gene Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at 1pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors. Mr. Emmons was born in Century, FL to Raymond and Margie Emmons (now deceased). He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966. He went to basic training in Ft. Benning and went straight to Vietnam. During his 20 years serving in the Army he received the Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He also loved NASCAR. He is survived by his daughters, Monica Rodney (Jim), Michelle Snider (Gary), Denise McClure (Doug) and their families; sons, Keith Emmons, Raymond Emmons (Alecia), Adam Emmons and their families; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Earl Emmons (Shirley); and sister, Gwen Emmons Cole.
