Gene Brookshire, 83 of Acworth, passed away on Thursday May 29, 2025.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12-2pm, Saturday, June 7, at Collins Funeral Home.

Gene was born May 11, 1942 in Acworth, Georgia to J.D. and Zuela Brookshire.  He grew up in the Mill Village causing a ruckus up and down Toccoa Drive.

He was a heavy machine operator for McArthur Concrete, CW Matthews and City of Smyrna; from which he retired in 2008. There wasn't a piece of heavy equipment he couldn't manage with ease.

He cherished his dog, Scooter, enjoyed working in the yard, watching old Westerns and "collecting" almost anything. His main form of enjoyment came from just shooting the breeze with whomever he ran into. He could be seen driving his golf cart all around Acworth (even where it wasn't allowed).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra, last December. We're sure they had a lovely reunion.
