Joyce Marie Fincher Cheek, of Acworth, GA, passed away on March 15, 2018, at the age of 86. Born on 9-9-31, in Atlanta, GA, to Annie Mae Strickland Fincher and Floyd Amber Fincher, she resided in Acworth for over 50 years and was a member of Acworth First Baptist Church.  Joyce retired from Cobb County Schools in 1996, where she worked as a Paraprofessional at Acworth Elementary School for 20 years. She volunteered throughout her life in church and community. She received the North Cobb Senior Center's Volunteer of the Year Award in 2005. She was named the Cobb County Senior Citizen of the Year in 2006, by the Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County, and received their Senior Community Leader of the Year Award in 2011.  In addition, she received multiple Certificates of Appreciation for dedicated service from Cobb Senior Services, as well as other service recognitions. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Bert Benjamin Cheek, son David Benjamin Cheek, brothers Joseph Olin Fincher, Bobby Amber Fincher, and sister Ruth Arizona Fincher Gibson.  She is survived by her daughter Anne Marie Cheek Fenton, and sons Jack Benjamin Cheek (wife Jenny Evans Cheek), Bert Benjamin (Ben) Cheek, Jr. (wife Stacy Blair Cheek), and her grandchildren April Marie Cheek Blanton (husband Mark Blanton), Claire Marie Fenton Guest (husband Garrett Guest), Nicholas (Nick) Benjamin Fenton (wife Sarah Caffrey-Fenton), Preston Benjamin Cheek, and Kaylyn Blake Cheek, along with cousins, nieces, and nephews.  A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, March 25, at Acworth First Baptist Church.

Joyce will be greatly missed.
