Joy Marie Freeman, age 78 of Conyers, died Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel E. and Edna Marie Martin, brothers, Grover Lee, Joe, Henry Fletcher, E.W and sisters, Anna Lou, Lucy Bell, Rosa Lie, Bessie Mavis, Selena Mae, and Odell Marvis. Her survivors include her son, Jerry Freeman; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Andy Eason, Janice and Brian Stephenson; grandchildren, Michael Manus, Cole Eason, Mitchell Eason, Cody Stephenson, and Bobby Stephenson; great grandchild, Bailee Stephenson; brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Martin, and many nieces and nephews.

Joy was a loving mother and nana. She was born in Collinsville, Alabama and moved to Acworth, GA when she was 6-years old. She graduated from North Cobb High School and remained in Acworth until she moved in 1978 to Conyers, GA with her family where she lived the remainder of her years.  She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, traveling, and bartending at the American Legion. She was the President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Conyers and a member of the Conyers American Legion.  She was also a member of the Conyers Red Hat Society for many years.

A Graveside service will be held on November 4th at 2:00pm at Liberty Hill Cemetery located on Cemetery Rd, Acworth, GA 30101. Pastor David Smith (nephew) will conduct the service. She will be laid to rest next to her mother, Edna Martin and her grandparents, Luke and Mamie Crowe.
