John Freeman Allgood, 60, of Marietta died Monday May 7, 2018.  Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 10th at Piedmont Church, 570 Piedmont Rd, Marietta, GA 30066. Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9th at Marietta Funeral Home.

John is survived by his son, Johnny Allgood of Gainesville; daughter, Christine Abercrombie of Marietta; brothers, Jed (Bonnie) Allgood of Acworth and Bill (Debbie) Allgood of Dallas; Nieces and Nephews, Keri, Amy, Brittany, Breanna, and Jason.

John's adventurous life started and ended in Kennestone Hospital 60 years and 8 days apart.  He was the third son of Alice and Jim Allgood and a loving brother to Jed and Bill.  He loved people, he loved his friends, and he loved his family above all else.  That is saying something because John REALLY loved life and all it had to offer.  He didn't just live life.  He was absolutely thrilled by it.  He would get so excited about things in his life whether large or small and was so enthusiastic it was hard not to get on board the John Express.

John went to J.J. Daniell Middle School and graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1976.  He attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia before starting a career in the construction and real estate industries.  While John learned very early in life the relationship between work and play – that being that work was necessary to afford the play he wanted, he was never averse to hard work and applied himself diligently to his various pursuits whether building houses, putting together land deals, building water falls, or whatever he was in to.

While John enjoyed work and made many great associations through it, he was always about the fun.  John found fun in an immense number of pursuits.  He loved movie quotes and could recite verbatim the entire three volumes of Lonesome Dove, whether upon request or not.  He had a unique fascination with snow and loved to be in snowy climates.  He loved the west, the Rocky Mountains, and all things western.  He loved red wines and was a gourmet chef and consumer.  He LOVED fondue, and had an unnatural affection for eggnog.  The list of Johns immense loves will take a life time to recall…and we will do that fondly.

Many people have contacted the family in person and via social media and have expressed John's exuberant love for people, life, family, and country.  Most people have described John as "always smiling and always lovable".  John touched a great many lives.  He would be so touched by the outpouring of affection.

We will miss him always.
