Jerome Childs, affectionately known as "The Count" by his closest friends, was born on June 18, 1948, to Ms. Della K. Childs and Willie Ed Williams in Atlanta, Georgia. The family resided in Fourth Ward during a time when it was truly a "Family Affair." Life was good for Jerome as a child, from wearing his dress shoes and shorts to becoming a meticulously dressed adult.

Jerome met the love of his life, Erma Jean Wright, and their family grew. He was the father of six children, whom he cared for as a very responsible family man, demonstrating this through his work with the Atlanta Board of Education for more than 33 years. Jerome was a lover of fishing, cleaning his cars and home, and most importantly, his family.

He has now transitioned, having lived a very good life, offering sound advice not as a perfect person but as a great husband and friend to all those he crossed paths with. He wants his sister Deborah Harmon, his children, 19 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren to know he loves them and to live life to the fullest.

Funeral services will be 11:00am, Friday April 11th in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the South View Cemetery in Atlanta.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00pm, Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N. Main St., Acworth, GA 30101, 770.974.3133
