Jerald William Pfister, D.C.
Jerald William Pfister, D.C., age 76, passed peacefully on Monday May 1.
Jerry was born April 16, 1947 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Clarence L. Pfister and Ruth K. Pfister. Jerry spent his childhood growing up on the family farm, graduating from Crestview High School in Ashland, Ohio in 1965. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970. He taught shop in the Jr. High School at Union School and at Oberlin High School in Ohio.
He met his wife, Jean, while she was a student teacher in 3 rd grade and he was teaching in the Jr. High. They married December 18, 1971. Their marriage was the foundation of a strong family and they shared a lifetime of experiences and happiness.
Their family grew with the births of their sons Matthew (Michelle), Mark (Kristin), and Daniel (deceased). Jerry was a devoted and caring grandfather to Gavin Pfister, Grayson Pfister, Oliver Pfister, LaraGrace Pfister, and Marian Pfister.
The family lived in Ohio for 10 years before moving to Acworth, Georgia in Dec. 1981. In Jan. 1982 Jerry started school at Life Chiropractic College graduating in March 1985 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He worked and taught at Life University for 18 yrs. while practicing chiropractic part-time in Acworth. He left Life University in 2003 to practice full time chiropractic in Acworth. He spent 38 years doing what he loved so much – being with people, adjusting and talking. He loved what he was doing so much; it was never work. The patients were friends and considered extended family. He retired from practice on April 24, 2023 due to health issues.
He was preceded in death by his son Daniel Pfister, his parents Clarence & Ruth Pfister, brother Jim Pfister and sister Brenda Pfister.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 yrs. Jean Pfister, son Matthew (Michelle), Mark (Kristin), grandchildren, Gavin Pfister, Grayson Pfister, Oliver Pfister, LaraGrace Pfister and Marian Pfister. Grandpa was always involved in keeping the grandchildren busy. He loved teaching them, playing with them and teasing them. He is also survived by his sister Pam (Doug) Mayer, Brothers Timothy (Elizabeth) Pfister and Tom Pfister in NY and Joe (Sophia) Pfister in TX. And nieces and nephews.
There will be a private funeral service for the family only.
There will also be a Public Celebration of Life service at a later date this summer. Please check back to see final details once they have been scheduled.
