aunita "Nita" Armstrong Hankins, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Acworth, Georgia. Born on January 27, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, Nita lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Nita retired from Walmart Corporation after an impressive 28-year career. Throughout her tenure, she held various positions and was especially known for her role in training incoming employees. Her positivity and unconditional love left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Beyond her professional life, Nita was deeply committed to her church home and could always be found volunteering her time and energy to support others.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Dalton Thomas Hankins; brother-in law, Ralph Nichols, her son Michael Scott Hankins and his wife Cherrish Dupree Hankins; her daughter-in-law Angelia Garner Hankins; and her cherished grandchildren: Keaton Thomas Hankins (Morgan Miller Hankins), Rebecca Hankins Most (Noah Isaac Most), Cody Bryant Hankins, as well as three treasured great-granddaughters. Nita's family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and joy in their presence.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Edith Armstrong; her sister Jackie Nichols; and her eldest son, David Bryan Hankins. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Nita's legacy is one of unwavering faith, kindness, and love. She touched countless lives through her generosity of spirit and steadfast devotion to those around her. May the memory of Jaunita "Nita" Armstrong Hankins bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on June 30, 2026, from 09:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Heritage Church 3 Baracuda Dr.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on June 30, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Heritage Church 3 Baracuda Dr
