James Emory Thomas, 93, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022.  Funeral services will be held, 2:00pm Saturday afternoon in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home with Mr. Gene Ray officiating.  Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery.  When he was young Mr. Thomas worked at the Allens Five & Dime in Acworth. Growing up he became a truck driver.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Dell Thomas; children, Patty Crumbley (Michelle Manrow) of Griffin, Jim (Susan) Thomas of Hartwell, Darlene (Eddie) Turner of Lynchburg, VA, Cindy Valentine of Hartwell and David Thomas of Hartwell; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Jean Wade of Cumming, Hazel (Joe) Howard of Morrow and Faye (Cillis) Hensley of Coldiron, KY.  Pallbearers will be, Jamie Turner, Danny Turner, Drew Turner, Matt Thomas, Adam Thomas and Brandon Valentine.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 prior to the service on Saturday.  Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
