James Andrew "Jimmy" Marcus , 69, of Marietta, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 11 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, 4207 Shallowford Rd, Roswell, GA, with Rev. Tommy Merritt, Rev. Charles Walker, and Rev. Jarrell Dickerson officiating.  Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Marcus was born in Marietta and attended Mt. View Elementary and Sprayberry High School.  He served as a Seabee in the Navy and did two tours in Vietnam.  After his military service, he started working for the Cobb County Fire Department in 1969 where he served for 30 years before retiring in 1999.  He was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Martha Marcus; daughters, Tandra Gumby of Douglasville, and Shannon Taylor of Marietta; sons, James Andrew Marcus, Jr. of Cumming, and Craig Taylor of Atlanta; sisters, Shirley Dickerson of Marietta, Faye Stanford of Roswell, and Cathy Bramlett of Woodstock; brother, Perry L. Marcus of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Hannah Comer, Alex Fields, Zachary Owens, Ashleigh Harris, and Sydney Marcus; and great granddaughter, Brecklynn Luci Harris.
