Obituary

James Paul Chance, born July 1, 1946, in Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by family at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Annie Chance; his three brothers; his daughter-in-law, Dee Chance; and his son, Travis Chance.He retired from Blue Flame Gas, where he drove a propane truck for 42 years, and then went on to drive the sign truck for Woodstock Furniture Outlet for five more years.Paul loved to fish and play the guitar. No matter where you saw him, he was always ready to speak about the Lord and would drop everything to pray for you if you asked.He was also an ordained minister and a previous pastor of Blue Springs Baptist Church and Rope Mill Baptist Church. He was a founding member of Rope Mill Baptist Church, where all of his children and grandchildren were raised, and he remained a current member there.He is survived by his wife, Brenda Chance; his children, Donna (Keith) McPherson and Nathan Chance; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great man who will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
