Jacquelyn G.
Starnes
Jul 21, 1946 — Dec 25, 2025
Ms. Jacquelyn G. Starnes, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, surrounded by her family whom she adored so much.
Jackie was born on July 21, 1946 in Marietta, GA as the beloved only child of Willie and Ethel Garrett. She grew up in the Kennesaw/Acworth area and graduated from North Cobb High School in 1966. Jackie remained in this area for all of her 79 years, and fondly referred to herself as the "Li'l Lol Lady from Kennesaw." She never met a stranger and had many lifelong and close friends, each of whom meant the world to her. She was an unofficial 'mom' and friend to many.
She had a long, successful career that spanned 25+ years working for the Cobb County Government, with an early focus on insurance, while the majority of her time was as a business license inspector. After retirement, Jackie continued to work for many years and initially worked for Coldwell Banker Realty, followed by AllState Insurance. She was active in the local community with the North Cobb Reunion committee, the North Cobb "girls" lunch club, and was a member of Awtrey-Westwood Baptist Church in Acworth.
Jackie was a loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and spending time with her family was her greatest passion and joy in life. She was affectionately known as "Goggie" to all of her grandchildren. Survivors include her three children: David Scott Starnes, Newnan, GA; Chris Starnes (Denise), Cartersville, GA; and Tina Starnes, Kennesaw, GA; four grandchildren: Kylee Laseter (Paul), Delano Franklin (Eric), Drew Starnes (Olivia), and Jake Starnes (Claire); and five great-grandchildren: Daxon, Hollen, and Wilder Starnes, Parker (P.J.) Laseter, and Jacob Starnes, Jr. (J.J.), along with many other extended relatives.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Jackie will be held in the Lottie Moon Chapel of Cartersville First Baptist Church, 241 Douthit Ferry Road, Cartersville, GA on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m. with the service at 1:00 p.m., and a reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jackie's memory to Awtrey-Westwood Baptist Church (5855 Awtrey Church Road, Acworth, GA 30101 770.974.0023), the Save Acworth History Foundation (www.saveacworthhistory.org), and/or Canine Assistants (www.canineassistants.org).
