Howard Mathis, Jr., 77, of Acworth, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.  A memorial service will be held 12:00pm Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home.  A lifelong resident of Acworth, Howard was a Carpenter by trade and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Acworth.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an all-around outdoorsman.  Howard was preceded in death by parents Howard and Estelle Mathis, his wife, of 51 years, Glenda Mathis and brothers, Jacky Mathis and Mark Mathis.  Surviving are his children, Pam Priest, Van Mathis both of Acworth and Chad Mathis of Cartersville; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, J. W.
