Hoover Hamby, 83, of Acworth, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. A native and lifelong resident of Acworth, Mr. Hamby retired from Atlantic Steel after 33 years of service with the company. He was also a house builder and developed 2 subdivisions in Cobb County. Mr. Hamby was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Bartow County. Surviving are his wife, Patrice M. Hamby of Acworth; son, Gregory N. (Sylvia) Hamby of Acworth; grandson, Dustin (Brandy) Hamby of Ellijay; great grandchildren, Macy and Landon Hamby, both of Ellijay; brother, Larkin (Betty) Hamby of Acworth; several nieces and nephews also survive.
