Herschel T. Reaid, 94, of Acworth, died Friday, January 3, 2020.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Monday afternoon in the Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Wright, the Rev. Bobby McFarland, and the Rev. Michael McPherson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mr. Reaid was born in Acworth and had lived here all of his life.  He served his country in the US Army Infantry during WWII and was the recipient of a purple heart.  He retired as a maintenance mechanic from the Lockheed Georgia Corporation with 37 years of service.  Herschel was a member of VFW Post 5408 in Acworth and was also a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He was preceded in death by his son, Larry D. Reaid and is survived by his wife of 73 years, Sammie Dean Reaid of Acworth; sons, Michael (Beverly) Reaid and Tony (Karen) Reaid, both of Acworth; daughter in law, Joyce Reaid of Acworth; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 8:00 pm on Sunday at Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
