Herman "Lou" Lewis, 79, of Marietta, GA, died Monday, March 18, 2019 at WellStar Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he served in Vietnam, retiring in 1978 with 20 yrs. service. During his career he was a Plank Owner of the Air Craft Carrier USS Kitty Hawk and a Lifetime member of the Non-commissioned Officers Association. After his Naval career, Lou obtained his Real Estate license and joined the firm of Century 21. He spent 25 years in his second career and ended up an Associate Real Estate Broker. A graduate of St. Leo College, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Lou was a parishioner at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Roswell, GA participating in the usher and lector Ministries. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Sir Knight Lou Lewis achieved the rank of Fourth degree Knight and served as Grand Knight of St. Joseph Council 4599 and Faithful Navigator of the Bishop Charles P. Grecco Assembly 2161. He was also a volunteer at WellStar Kennestone hospital in the Support Services Office and leaves behind a team of volunteers that he considered his extended family.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, mother, sister and brother.
The Family will receive friends at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd, Marietta, GA 30066 on Thursday, March 21 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, 11330 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075, on Friday, March 22 at 10:30 am, Monsignor Peter Rau officiating. Lunch to follow.
Interment will be held Friday March 22 at 2:00 pm at the Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Ave. NE, Marietta, GA 30060.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his honor to St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus Council 4599.
