Helen Thompson, 92, of Acworth, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon in the Acworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Gwin officiating.  A native of Philipsburg, PA, Mrs. Thompson had lived in Acworth for the last 12-15 years.  She retired from the Yerkes Primate Center at Emory University and was a member of the Acworth United Methodist Church.  Surviving are her children, Susan (Doug) Moore of Easley, SC, Betsy (Marion) Salmon of Acworth, and Scott Thompson of Roswell.  6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren also survive.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.donatenow.heart.org or the Acworth United Methodist Church 4340 Collins Circle Acworth, GA 30101.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday immediately following the memorial service.  Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
