Hazel Norris Merritt, 88, of White, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the chapel at Collins Funeral Home, 4947 N Main St, Acworth, GA 30101 ,  with Dr. Richard Holden officiating.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM, December 30, 2020 at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, 4355 GA-92, Acworth, GA 30102

Hazel was born in Elizabethtown, NC to Willie Sloan Norris and Helen Sarah Merritt on May 27, 1932. She lived in Acworth, GA for 22 years and lived in Calhoun since 2005 before moving to White to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #10 of Alexandria, LA. She also volunteered at Gordon Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Raymond Merritt; brother, Howard Ashley Norris; sister, Shirley King; grandson, James Mitchell Tanner II; and two sons-in-law, Bobby Gene Darnell and Edmund Miles Sickinger Jr.  Surviving are her daughters, Linda Merritt Tanner Darnell of White, GA, Beverly Merritt Sickinger of Cartersville, GA; son, Elwood (Marguarette) Robert Merritt of Ranger, GA; grandchildren, Scott Wood of Ludowici, GA, Keith Wood of Douglasville, GA, Ray Robert Sickinger of Dallas, TX, Tammy Lynn Sickinger of Las Vegas, NV, and Sarah Marie Pettiford of Rome, GA; great-grandchildren, Robin (Ellen) James Tanner of Adairsville, GA, Joshua M. L. Kagawa Sickinger of Lake Tahoe, Ashley Marie Wood of Fort Mitchell, AL, Kayla Alexis Pettiford Sickinger of Rome, GA, Nina Jessica Sickinger of California, D.J. Pettiford Duran of Rougemont, NC, and Preston Michael Wood of Douglasville, GA; great-great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Nicholas Sickinger of Lake Tahoe, and several nieces and nephews.
