Hascal
Nicholson
Aug 22, 1923 — Aug 6, 2018
Hascal Nicholson, a WWII Veteran of Marietta Ga. went to be with the Lord Monday, August 6th, 2018 just sixteen days shy of his 95th birthday. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his beloved family who referred to him as "Pepaw".
Hascal was born in Hiawassee, Ga. on August 22, 1923, the oldest of eight children born to Claude and Mary Russell Nicholson. He married Willa Mae Scroggs, on August 1st 1943. One week later, he left for boot camp for the U.S. Navy. He served during WWII on USS LST 547. After the war ended he worked at Lockheed on the C-130 for 30 years. He loved his country, the military, and his family with his whole heart, but most importantly he loved God who he willingly served every day of his life. Hascal was the ultimate example of humility, kindness, and a sharp, quick wit, which he kept until the very end. He was an amazing Christian man and a faithful member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School President for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Mary Nicholson, brothers Gerald & Arvin Nicholson, his wife Willa Mae Nicholson, and his son Tony Nicholson. He is survived by his daughter Brenda and son-in-law Dr. Jennings Bristol, Grandchildren Randy (Donna) Bristol, Anita Merryman, Todd Bristol, and Tonya (Dr. Spencer) Bramwell, brothers, Harold, Milas, and Lex Nicholson, and sisters, Virginia Roach and Lillian Darnell, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
