Harold "HAL" Franklin Cheek, 76, of Marietta, GA, went home to his Heavenly Father and Son Jesus Christ, after a long period of health problems, on December 21, 2015.

Hal was predeceased by his father, Martury Wootson Cheek; mother, Cleo Geneva Tate Cheek; sisters, Carolyn Jordan and Nancy Hewitt; and brother, Ray Tate Cheek. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carlene Cooper Meers Cheek; children, (stepdaughter) Malissa Hays and Terry, of Powder Springs, GA, Harold Franklin Cheek II and Treva, Brenda Clark, Vanessa Barton and Dale, all of Oklahoma, Cindy Bozeman Dobson and Chris, Robert Cheek and Natalie, of Jasper, GA, and Sheri Clarke and Andrew; sisters, Norma Bradley, Francis Laney, Barbara Thompson, and Betty Garrett; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Hal loved life to the fullest. His favorite times were being Deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram and Hiram First Baptist Church serving under Pastor Quinn Evans. He loved playing golf and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with his best buddy "Quinn", who was smiling down and waiting to walk across heaven with him. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on Lake Weiss. He loved spending time with his Brother in Christ, John Lance. Hal said God sent him a true Good Samaritan to share good times and bad. John stood by him in every crisis. Hal retired from Southern Bell, Bell South, and AT&T after 33 years. He served with pride in the Air National Guard and the Air Force for 11 years. He was a member of Post 29, American Legion, in Marietta for 25 plus years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd at 12 noon in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Marietta Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
