Obituary

Harley "Red" Walker, 87, of Acworth, died July 28, 2021.  Red was a Lockheed Retiree who had attended Acworth Baptist Church, coached Acworth Midget and Little League baseball teams, taking several to the state level.  He was the recipient of awards for 20 years of service from the Georgia High School Basketball Association and the Georgia Officials Football Association.  The Georgia Tech Athletic Association honored Red with a plaque for his 25 years of dedication, loyalty and outstanding service as a member of their Football Chain Crew.  He served on the Acworth Lake Authority and was a member of Kenworth Kiwanis where he was presented with an award for his participation and completion of the most projects in the Georgia District.  Two of his favorite projects were the Key Club and "Terrific Kids" where he visited and worked with local schools to encourage and promote good citizenship.  Red is survived by his wife, Shirley Walker; sons, Greg and Steve Walker; grandchildren; brother, Rev. Ben Walker.  Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  **Due to COVID no services will be held.**  Contributions may be made to Calvary Children's Home.  Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
